Hello beastie

Today - after having failed to do so for seven months - I went to the cinema to watch Maleficent. It's inspired by Sleeping Beauty:

I used the occasion to finally redeem a voucher I got 1.5 years ago. And since that voucher was worth 15 euros watched the movie at IMAX. My first time at IMAX. And what can I say? If you like movies and  their accompanying music and 3d then you should give it a try if you haven't done so already. It might be worth the money! The IMAX's screen is about 15(!) meters high; I sat in the middle of the cinema hall and thus had an excellent view on the screen.

I don't really know what to say about the movie. I thought it to be great. I don't think anything needs to be said about Angelina Jolie, she's a great actress. But I also really liked Sam Riley.

The music is brilliant, I'm listening to it right now.

Well, going out almost always forces you to meet people. I met some today, too.

Strange ones. Shortly after I arrived at my seat a group of young people entered the cinema hall. A guy with three Asian girls. At first they talked in English. Once they'd found their seats, they went on to speak in French. Then the guy went to buy popcorn and the girls talked among themselves. In Japanese! When the guy came back with another one in tow they switched back to English, then French, What a strange group! Though I wish I was able to speak that many languages fluently like them.

Cliché ones. While waiting to be allowed to enter the cinema hall I waited in the main hall. When two women sat done beside me I almost started laughing aloud. Those two weren't about the average diameter of a human being but a "little" more plump. It doesn't come as a big surprise that one of them had a big pizza dripping with fat on her lap, does it?
Another similar encounter on my way home: I was taking the train and in the two rows in front of me were two women who seemed to be friends. Why didn't they sit next to each other? Well, because they wouldn't have fit together in one row :x And they were talking to each other in such a manner that at least the next ten rows where able to follow their talk easily. I think such people are profoundly annoying. As if they couldn't talk a little less loud..

I know that might sound a little superficial but I really couldn't care less.

On another note, I will finally visit the United Kingdom later this year. Starting with a few days in London, after which I will relax some days in Scotland visiting a friend. I've booked four flights yesterday and today. And each and every airline has it's own unusable website. Seriously, Ryanair cost me some of my brain cells. I had to start over twice...

The mysterious parcel and other thingies

As has been announced yesterday, I went to the post office early this morning. I had to line up first for about ten minutes because there were so many people waiting to do whatever. Why does everyone have to go to the post office on a Saturday at 9.30 am?! I seriously don't get people. Anyway, while waiting I noticed a small text on the notice the delivery person left at my letter box. I didn't bother reading it up until that moment. It said that I only could fetch the parcel from 11 am onwards. But I was lucky, I talked to a really nice post office employee who said he remembered scanning the parcel earlier this morning so he fetched it for me and I left the office delighted. Anyway, here are the mysterious contents:

You might have noticed that my drawing challenge picture for today isn't thaaaat well done. Here's why: I didn't have enough time because I played around with gimp a lot today :D Have a look at the results:

Did you notice the lomo effect? It was done using Michael's tutorial. It's so easy you should give it a try yourself! With another tutorial I made this:

Pretty, eh? And last but not least a once in a lifetime chance: I actually took a picture of myself that I kinda really liked. I couldn't resist adding the lomo effect from earlier. You probably won't ever see another image of myself :D

DC14 - 14 - Favourite Fairytale

Kindergarten style today because I had other stuff to do.. But at least I used my graphic tablet to draw kindergarten-style :D I'm quite proud of the sky, though; isn't it pretty‽  It looks a little as if it has been drawn with water colours, doesn't it?

New art stuff ❤

While on my way home from work earlier today I came by an art supply shop which I couldn't resist to enter. After some time and looking at lots of things I finally decided on this:

It's Faber Castell's Mixed media tin Albrecht Dürer + PITT artist pen. And it's amazing :D You can draw really smooth colour transitions with these pens. I tried it already with some scribbles - today's drawing challenge result among those (though it doesn't look good at all..). I think I should work more with water again. I haven't done that in a long time.

A delivery person apparently tried to deliver a parcel to me today when I wasn't home. There was a notice on my letterbox when I arrived. However, I didn't order anything aside from t-shirts (which won't arrive in a parcel). I don't have any idea what that parcel might contain but I will find out tomorrow morning after I will have fetched it from the post office. I'm really curious!

Aside from that, I still neither have internet connection nor landline. It's the sixth day already. How long is this gonna last...?

Look what I got

One of the very rare postcards I receive :) It's from Sweden. The previous postcard that I received from that sender was from Japan. I wish I'd be able to travel as much as him. (Hint: If you're traveling, send me a postcard! :D)

Aside from that my internet connection and landline have been broken for four consecutive days. I called my ISP's support today only to learn that it's supposed to be a failure not only for me but for the whole metropolitan area I live in. I was told to wait patiently, they are trying to fix it already and I'd get my money back for the down time duration. It still sucks. I cannot recommend KabelBW as my ISP of choice anymore. It shouldn't take more than four days to fix a connection issue.

Drawing Challenge - Remake

Since I didn't finish the 30 Day Drawing Challenge from two years ago, I'm gonna give it another try. Should anyone be reading this: you're welcome to join me! ;)
